Proud to Run is now independent from FrontRunners
Jan 16. 2021
For some time, Proud to Run has successfully operated independently of FrontRunners, and has proven itself highly capable of fulfilling the mission of Proud to Run. Therefore, the FrontRunners board has decided to officially discontinue its role in the governance of Proud to Run, in effect formalizing the separation that has already occurred. Therefore, Proud to Run will operate as an independent nonprofit organization, and FrontRunners will no longer exercise any of the oversight functions specified in the PTR bylaws, thereby allowing PTR to govern itself.
Of course FrontRunners continues to support wholeheartedly the important mission of Proud to Run, both in its fundraising for the LGBTQ+ community in Chicago, and its incredibly popular running race that has attracted thousands of participants every year. We strongly encourage our members to continue their tradition of volunteering on race day, and supporting PTR both financially and in other ways as well. We look forward to continuing our natural alliance and close relationship, and stand ready to help in any way that we can to support the mission of Proud to Run, including publicizing the race and encouraging our members to volunteer in the many needed functions for PTR, and to participate in the run.
