Am I able to run for a team if I’ve already registered?
You sure can! Email email@example.com with your first and last name, which team you’d like to race for, and the race length (Half marathon/5k/10k). Our registration team will get you moved over!
We have a team captain, but they don’t want to race. Is that OK?
Absolutely. The registration system will need them to create an account, though. If the team captain needs to be changed, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
What are the duties of the Team Captain?
Whatever you want! Each team is welcome to organize the way they best see fit. The team captain typically will pick up their team packets, and they will periodically receive communications from us as it pertains to Team specific events and possible logistics.
Do Proud to Run participants have to select a gender when registering?
Currently, yes. Proud to Run takes pride in being one of the few races in the nation that offers a non-binary gender identity choice at registration. We’re always working to make Proud to Run more inclusive, and we want participants to feel comfortable presenting and participating as they wish.
Are there any pre-race events?
The PTR board plans pre-race events to take place throughout the year, from a kickoff party to fundraisers. The best way to keep up with Proud to Run’s special events is to follow us on Facebook.
How can I sponsor PTR?
Sponsorship is available at many different levels, for individual and corporate sponsors.
Corporate sponsorship of PTR not only gets your name in front of Chicago’s LGBTQ+ running community, it helps support local beneficiaries. 100% of PTR profits go directly to the beneficiaries. This funding is vital to the support and existence of these important LGBTQ+ organizations.
Proud To Run, Chicago is a 501(c)(3) charity. Gifts to Proud To Run are fully deductible for United States federal income tax purposes, subject to the limitations placed on charitable gifts by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Can I run with my child who’s in a stroller?
Yes! We ask that those with strollers start at the back of the corral. Please note that the course will be uneven in areas. For your safety and the safety of your child, we recommend that you survey the race course in advance. During the race, please stay to the right, and pass on the left.

We ask that parents and guardians of children 16 and under remain at Proud To Run for the duration of the race. Parents and guardians do not necessarily need to be running, but we encourage them to sign up with their child as well! Non-running parents/guardians may cheer on participants along the race course or relax in the Athletes’ Village.
Will there be a gear check?
Proud to Run offers a free gear check for participants. Check back here for information on open/close times and location for the 2019 race.
It looks like rain on race day, will it still go on? Can I get a refund?
Weather in Chicago can be unpredictable. Just rain will not cancel the race. However, a thunderstorm with lightning within 6 miles of the course will cancel the race. If conditions change during the race, aid stations and course marshals will change the Event Alert Systems to the appropriate color. Since your race registration is going to a charity, we unfortunately cannot give a refund.
I signed up but now I have a wedding and can’t make the race. Can I get a refund?
If you are unable to run for any reason, you may transfer your confirmation number to a new runner prior to packet pick-up. The new runner just needs your confirmation number to get the packet.
Since we are giving the registration money to our beneficiaries, we are unable to give refunds. Thank you for your understanding.
I never got a confirmation email when I signed up.
Most likely it went into a spam folder. If you need to know for sure, contact our Registration Coordinator here.
I changed my mind and want to run a different race length. What can I do?
No worries! Email us at email@example.com and we can move you over. We ask that you do this before race day so that we can make sure to accurately reflect your race time in the right category!
Can I exchange my T-shirt size?
Due to the large number of participants, we are unable to exchange T-shirts. If you need a different size from the one you ordered, please email firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee availability of the size you need, but we’ll do our best.
